Tia Babbar

Tia Babbar (b. 2003) is a Toronto-based contemporary oil painter whose practice investigates themes of collective memory and interconnectedness. Her work emerges from the understanding that the self is not separate from the world, but intertwined with every being, moment, and environment. Babbar refers to this way of perceiving as “inseeing”.

Light, in her work, carries this sense of connection. Whether as a soft glow or a bright illumination, it moves through rooms and spaces, between bodies, and across time. She invites viewers to look beyond the surface — to feel these moments in their own skin, and to recognize that they, too, have been here before, existing in this same light.
